Best Contribution to ATM Security
Absa, majority owned by Barclays, wins a Global ATM Security Alliance award for Best Contribution to ATM Security, following the launch of its ‘Jitter’ software which causes a vibration in ATM card readers, preventing information being copied illegally.

Barclays United Arab Emirates wins the Best Retail Marketing accolade in the Banker Middle East Product Awards 2009.

Barclays achieves a National Payroll Giving Excellence Award for its promotion of its tax-efficient charity donation scheme. Barclays matches contributions, pound for pound, up to £750 per colleague each year.

Barclays Capital wins two awards in The Banker magazine's eighth annual Investment Banking Awards: Innovation in Commodities and Innovation in Inflation Products.

Barclays Legal is named In-House Banking and Financial Services Legal Team of the Year at The Lawyer Awards.

Barclays Wealth wins the Golden Asset for Innovation Award from leading French investment magazine, l’Agefi Actifs. The award is for the Alphastars Discovery Fund, which invests in entrepreneurial asset management companies.

Banking Barclays telephone-based service for customers wins an Enterprise Award at the Global Connect Conference in the USA.
Global Information Security Project of the Year
A Barclays IT initiative is named global information security project of the year at The Banker magazine’s Technology Awards. The new code analysis system offers early detection of software security risks, improving protection for customers.
Innovation Award
Barclays Commercial Bank wins a UK Ordnance Survey Innovation Award for its SiteGuard Report, which is used by valuers to assess environmental risks on commercial land and property offered as security for a loan.
