Barclays Premier League
Barclays sponsorship of the Barclays Premier League began in 2001 and currently runs until May 2013. The Barclays Premier League reaches more than 500 million homes worldwide in over 200 countries. Barclays is committed to bringing fans closer to football with initiatives such as Barclays Ticket Office, where fans in the UK can win Barclays Premier League tickets every 90 minutes, every day.
The Barclays Premier League Trophy has visited fans in over 20 countries. Asian fans were able to get closer to the action with the Barclays Asia Trophy, a bi-annual pre-season tournament which took place in Beijing in July 2009 between Hull City, West Ham, Beijing Guoan and Tottenham Hotspur who won the overall tournament.
South African National Football Team (Bafana Bafana)
Absa, a South African-based bank in which Barclays has a majority share, is one of the sponsors of the South African senior National Football Team.
Absa Premiership
2007 saw the acquisition of a new five year sponsorship deal with the PSL for the rights to the South African professional soccer league – the Absa Premiership.
