Barclays around the world
While the Group’s headquarters remains in London, the capital of England, Barclays has now established enterprises across Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region.
Barclays is made up of two ‘Clusters’: Global Retail Banking, and Corporate and Investment Banking and Wealth Management, each of which has a number of Business Units.
There are two other major areas of the business: Group Centre and Absa.
Global Retail Banking
Barclays is an international financial services company, and its commercial and retail banking businesses are core to the Group.
Group Centre
From Human Resources to Corporate Affairs, this area comprises all the essential Head Office support functions that help Barclays maintain strategic momentum.
Corporate and Investment Banking and Wealth Management
These businesses offer a range of products and services to meet the needs of affluent individuals and corporate, government and institutional clients all over the world.
Absa
The Absa Group is one South Africa's largest financial services businesses. In 2005, Barclays acquired a majority stake in the company, in line with its international expansion plans.
