Rewards and benefits

Barclays colleagues enjoy a range of benefits including performance incentives, private healthcare and flexible working, which vary depending on the region in which they are based. Tax-free Sharesave and Sharepurchase schemes, childcare vouchers and up to 30 days holiday a year are among the rewards the business offers employees.

Discounts

Colleagues in certain parts of the world benefit from ‘YOUniquely Barclays’ – a range of Barclays products and services offered to employees on preferential terms. Including banking products, insurance and travel services, the scheme offers comprehensive cost savings.

The Barclays Buy-A-Car scheme capitalises on Barclays buying power to get valuable discounts on Mercedes, Toyota and Renault vehicles for colleagues. And the You at Work online service offers discounts on a variety of products to suit all tastes, from theatre tickets to beauty treatments and high street shopping.

Sharepurchase

Barclays Sharepurchase scheme is a flexible, tax-free opportunity for UK-based employees to buy Barclays shares with either a lump sum or through regular payments. A Sharesave monthly savings plan offers a chance to buy shares in the Group at a discount of up to 20 per cent. Colleagues can invest over a period of either three, five or seven years, building up savings which can be spent on Barclays shares at a preferential price at the end of the agreement.

Remuneration

As well as a competitive, industry-benchmarked salary, many Barclays colleagues benefit from a discretionary annual performance incentive. The amount individuals receive depends on their own performance as well as that of the business.

Flexibility

Not everyone can work standard office hours five days a week. That’s why Barclays tries to help colleagues achieve a work/life balance through flexible working practices.

These can include part-time working arrangements and the opportunity to take a career break. The options available to colleagues will depend on individual circumstances, local policy and legislative requirements, and the demands and priorities of the Business Unit or function in which employees are based.

Community investment

Our matched payroll giving scheme offers employees a tax-efficient way of donating to their favourite charities, with donations taken from pre-tax pay. Colleagues are also encouraged to share their time and skills to support the causes that mean the most to them, with paid time away from work for volunteering, and grants towards community projects available.

Health

Barclays offers a raft of health and wellbeing benefits. Many colleagues qualify for a medical expenses scheme, offering the comfort of access to private healthcare treatment.

An Employee Assistance programme also gives colleagues free and confidential advice on work or home worries. And to help promote vitality across the business, Barclays employees can enjoy corporate discounts with a number of major health clubs near their home or place of work, in many parts of the world.

Employee networks

To support diversity across the business, Barclays supports a range of employee networks. Among these are the Spectrum Network, for those with an interest in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues, and the Reach Network, for colleagues with an interest in disability issues.
