Barclays statement on Supply Chain Sustainability sets out our commitments and expectations of suppliers which includes conducting annual reviews.

The suppliers of Barclays corporatewear are subject to our procurement procedures due to the high risk nature of manufacturing. For example, the RedCollar factory in China which makes the uniforms worn by employees in the UK underwent our supply chain audit in 2009.

The results found employees were being paid a salary rather than a piece rate, and they are also entitled to regular paid holidays usually in excess of four weeks.

Corporatewear supplier directors, garment technologists and designers make regular visits each year to factories looking at productivity, quality of fabric and garments and ways of working.

Our relationship with our corporatewear supplier ensures that not only all country specific legislation is followed but that our sustainability practices have a real impact on peoples lives.
