Barclays in Spain
Barclays first office in Spain opened in 1974. Since then the business has grown to become the country's sixth largest banking group, with more than 590 branches and 920,000 customers.
Commercial Bank customers benefit from more than 80 business outlets across the country and 70 Premier centres, including a flagship branch in the capital city, Madrid, cater for affluent investors.
Barclays Capital, the company’s investment banking business, also has an office in the Spanish capital, as does Barclays wealth management division Barclays Wealth.
Nearly 5,000 colleagues work for Barclays Spain in branches and offices nationwide, and the business is growing fast – 96 new branches opened in 2008.
