Barclays in the Seychelles

Barclays was the first bank to operate in the Seychelles, opening its first branch in the country's capital city, Victoria, in 1959.

Today Barclays is the leading bank in the Seychelles, and has seven branches and an agency which offers retail, corporate and offshore banking services. Its 11 ATMs are spread across the country’s three main islands.

Barclays has 60 per cent market share in the Seychelles and is the only bank in the country to offer internet banking with full capabilities, including international SWIFT money transfers.

It serves more than 35,000 retail and commercial banking customers and is a three-times winner of the Seychelles government-backed U-First customer service award for Bank of the Year.

In the Seychelles, Barclays offers:

  • Retail banking: everyday banking for individuals, including current accounts, personal foreign currency accounts and offshore banking
  • Commercial banking: business banking services and offshore banking to corporate clients
  • Barclaycard: provides customers nationwide with credit card facilities.
