Sexual orientation diversity at Barclays

At Barclays people are treated fairly, irrespective of their sexuality.

Supporting Stonewall

Barclays has a long-established relationship with Stonewall, a lesbian, gay and bisexual equality charity. Barclays has partnered with Stonewall to sponsor guides on anti-discrimination legislation, and civil partnerships.

Barclays, Barclays Capital and Barclays Wealth are all members of Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme – a best practice group through which Barclays colleagues can engage with representatives from a number of leading businesses to discuss diversity issues.

Spectrum Network

Established in 2002, Barclays Spectrum Network spans the Barclays Group and supports Barclays lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) employees with subgroups across every Business Unit.

Mentoring

Barclays offers specific mentoring opportunities for LGBT employees across the business.

Independent recognition

In 2008, Barclays in the UK was named one of Britain’s top employers for gay, lesbian and bisexual people, in Stonewall’s annual Workplace Equality Index. Barclays was placed number 17 out of 100 companies featured in the poll and scored 86 per cent in a survey designed to measure inclusivity in the workplace.
