Below is a selection of accolades and achievements from recent years across the global business.
2009
Barclays Capital is voted best trading company for spot and futures in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme by readers of Environmental Finance and Carbon Finance magazines in their annual market survey. It is the third consecutive year Barclays Capital has won the award. To date, Barclays Capital traded more than one billion tonnes of carbon on behalf of clients.
Barclays is rated as one of the top five UK private sector employers for gay, lesbian and bisexual colleagues in the annual Stonewall Workplace Equality Index league table.
2008
Barclays PINsentry device is recognised as the Best Security/Anti-Fraud Development at the 2008 UK Credit Card Awards. PINsentry provides extra security for Barclays Online Banking customers using a hand-held chip and PIN card reader.
Barclays is named one of the top 50 places in the UK where women want to work by The Times newspaper for the third consecutive year.
Barclays achieves a National Payroll Giving Excellence Award for its promotion of the tax-efficient charity donation scheme. Judges of the UK government-backed awards praised our campaign, which saw participation double in the past year.
Barclays is ranked among the top five in the financial sector for its environmental and social performance by the US-based Roberts Environmental Center. The Center analyses the sustainability reports of the world's largest companies.
Barclays Commercial Bank wins a UK Ordnance Survey Innovation Award for its SiteGuard Report. The report is used by valuers to assess environmental risks on commercial land and property offered as security for a loan.
Barclays increases its overall Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) score. The DJSI assesses the social, environmental and economic performance of businesses, using measures such as climate change impact and corporate governance record.
2007
Barclays Zimbabwe wins the Harare Chamber of Commerce award for the Best HIV/AIDS Programme.
Barclays is ranked eighth in the 2007 FTSE4Good Environmental leaders in Europe 40 index.
Barclays Portugal is honoured for outstanding customer focus by the Portuguese Association of Call Centres. The customer relationship centre, Barclays 24, won the Best Customer Relationship Award.
Barclays is recognised for leading the way in community investment. It won accolades in two of the three categories at the annual Companies and Communities Awards, run by the Charities Aid Foundation.
Barclays is the leading bank in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for environmental reporting.
Barclays is the first bank in France to be awarded ISO 14001 certification for complying with international environmental management standards.
Barclays is recognised for its environmental leadership and Spaces for Sports programme at the Business in the Community Awards for Excellence. Barclays was also highly commended for its Ghana microfinance programme.
2006
Barclays Capital is voted Best Trading Company in Europe's carbon emissions trading scheme by readers of Environment Finance magazine.
Barclays features in the Premier League (top 20) of the Business in the Community Environmental Index.
Barclays wins the annual GreenLight Environmental Award for the green roof at our global headquarters, 1 Churchill Place in London, UK.
Barclays Spain wins the 2006 National Award for Corporate Community Involvement.
