Barclays participates in a number of indices, forums and initiatives that help to measure progress.
We are a constituent of key socially responsible investment (SRI) indices including the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes and FTSE4Good index series.
SRI analysts and rating firms provide credible independent information on how our sustainability programme compares to others, both within the financial services sector and across the wider business community. We are consistently in the top quartile and are clear leaders in some areas. For instance, we were awarded joint 1st among the 500 largest global companies in the Carbon Disclosure Project’s Leadership Index in 2008.

Environmental Risk Assessment
Barclays Commercial Bank won a UK Ordnance Survey Innovation Award for its SiteGuard Report, which is used by valuers to assess environmental risks on commercial land and property offered as security for a loan.
