Aligning our community investment programmes to our core business maximises their impact, delivers social benefits and develops future markets for our business.

In November 2008 Barclays announced a three-year global community investment partnership with UNICEF, an organisation which supports child health, nutrition, education and protection in more than 150 countries.

Under the Building young futures programme, Barclays will invest £5m to empower thousands of young people all over the world by providing them with education, opportunities for employment and skills in entrepreneurship – equipping them with the tools they need to achieve a brighter economic future for themselves and their communities.

The partnership forms part of Barclays Banking on brighter futures programme, through which colleagues from across the Group use their skills and expertise to help people work towards financial independence and security.

“Aligning our community investment programmes to our core business maximises their impact, delivers social benefits and develops future markets for our business,” says Marcus Agius, Barclays Group Chairman.
