The Barclays Pledge

Under The Barclays Pledge we have committed to providing support to the communities around the world in which we have a presence.

The Barclays Pledge

Barclays and its employees are in a position to make a big difference to the communities in which we operate.

The Barclays Pledge was established in October 2007, and outlines our commitment to community investment on a global scale.

Barclays promised to invest the equivalent of $150m and 150,000 hours of employees’ time in 1,500 projects over five years.

The goal is to implement projects all over the world which represent the aims of Barclays Banking on brighter futures campaign. From promoting financial inclusion in remote rural communities to educating young people from deprived inner-city areas about how to best manage their money, the programme is making a positive impact on thousands of beneficiaries.

“Deprivation is an issue that faces many people around the world," says Barclays Group Chairman Marcus Aguis.

“Barclays and its employees are in a position to make a big difference to the communities in which we operate. We have a strong track record in this area, but the Barclays Pledge will extend the scope and scale of our activities significantly."
