Cap Parrainage mentoring network, France

The aims

Mentoring long-term unemployed people to boost their skills and confidence.

The story

Since 2003, a network of managers from Barclays France has mentored long-term unemployed people, helping them gain the confidence to return to work.
As part of the Cap Parrainage project, Barclays colleagues help jobseekers with interview techniques and CV writing, and share ideas on where and how to look for suitable roles.

Meetings take place at Barclays offices, giving participants a chance to access and become familiar with a workplace environment – an important step in restoring their confidence before entering employment.

Results to date

A group of 13 Barclays France colleagues have committed to the Cap Parrainage project long-term, and mentor jobseekers for a minimum of two hours per month.
