Our colleagues’ charitable work is quite breathtakingly wonderful.
Every year, the Barclays Chairman’s Awards recognise the work of individuals and teams who have a made lasting impact on their local community.
These colleagues epitomise the Group’s commitment to community investment. In 2008, 311 nominations were received from 26 countries across the business.
Among the winners was a team from Barclays in Egypt, which helped refurbish buildings in an area where 90 per cent of children live in poverty.
A team from Barclays in South Africa was recognised for its work in fundraising to provide sanitation facilities for a local settlement, and a team from Singapore won an Award for partnering with a children’s cancer charity and organising memorable days out for children and their families.
