Barclaycard Mercury Prize
An annual celebration recognising the UK Albums of the Year. Last year’s winner was The XX for the album XX. Other artists whose albums were on the shortlist included Mumford & Sons, Biffy Clyro, Paul Weller and Laura Marling. Previous winners include Speech Debelle, Elbow, Arctic Monkeys and Dizzee Rascal.
Barclaycard's sponsorship has seen the introduction of more exciting new initiatives including the monthly Barclaycard Mercury Prize Sessions which have so far included Ladyhawke, Mr Hudson and Noah and the Whale performing at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden.

Barclaycard World Freerun Championships
Barclaycard has also extended its title sponsorship of the World Freerun Championships. This event brings together the awesome artistry of the world’s top athletes for a global celebration of this stunning and rapidly growing urban sport. The event in 2009 saw a purpose built structure erected in Trafalgar Square in London with an audience of more than 8,000 people. The event was broadcast live on the television channel BBC3 and has been performing well on BBC iPlayer ever since.

Barclays Center
The 675,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue will be home to the professional basketball team the Brooklyn Nets. For the first time since the Dodgers left in 1957, Brooklyn will have a major league sports team to call its own. The Barclays Center will welcome some of the most exciting sports and entertainment events in the world: concerts, fine arts performances, circuses, college basketball games, ice shows, and music award shows are just some of the possibilities.
The Barclays Center will be a community centerpiece for the borough. Primary Nets owner, Forest City Ratner Companies, has worked with local organisations to ensure the venue is an integral part of the community, where local college and high school athletes will have a new stage to showcase their skills. The Center will also host thousands of proud families and friends for college and high school graduations.

Donmar Warehouse
Barclays Capital is the Principal Sponsor of the Donmar Warehouse. The Donmar is a 250-seat subsidised theatre located in the heart of London’s West End. Under the artistic leadership of Michael Grandage, the Donmar presents six productions a year and has a diverse artistic policy that includes new writing, contemporary re-appraising of European classics, British and American drama and musical theatre. In December 2011, Michael Grandage will leave the Donmar after 10 years, and Josie Rourke, currently Artistic Director at the Bush Theatre, will succeed him.
As well as the Donmar’s season at its Covent Garden home, it has recently undertaken a year-long West End residency at Wyndham’s Theatre. This season was about offering high-quality drama at affordable prices.
The Donmar believes passionately in extending its reach to audiences beyond London, giving theatre-goers throughout the UK and all over the world an opportunity to experience the work of the Donmar. The theatre regularly undertakes national tours, and has also presented productions in Los Angeles, Buenos Aires and New York, where it is rapidly becoming a staple of the city’s theatre scene. In February 2011, the Donmar’s reach was extended further still after the recent production of King Lear with Sir Derek Jacobi was screened to over 350 cinemas worldwide through NT Live.
The Donmar has an enviable reputation for attracting some of the most highly regarded actors, directors, designers and writers in theatre today. Actors in recent Donmar productions include Rachel Weiss, Dominic West, Jude Law, Charlie Cox, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Derek Jacobi, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Janet McTeer, Kelly Reilly, Simon Russell Beale, Michael Sheen, Samuel West and Penelope Wilton. Directors have included Rob Ashford, Peter Gill, Michael Grandage, Douglas Hodge, Jamie Lloyd, Katie Mitchell and Alan Rickman.
Since 1992, Donmar-generated productions have received 35 Olivier Awards, 25 Critics’ Circle Awards, 21 Evening Standard Awards, two South Bank Awards and 20 Tony Awards from 10 Broadway productions.

National Maritime Museum
Barclays has announced that it is to become the sole sponsor of a new exhibition at London’s National Maritime Museum.
Entitled ‘Royal River: Power, Pageantry and the Thames’, the exhibition runs from 27 April 2012, during Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee and the museum’s 75th anniversary.
It is guest curated by historian David Starkey and explores how Britain has, from London’s birth, looked to the River Thames to display its power, patronage and pageantry to the city and its people.
‘Royal River’ profiles the palaces, processions, parties and promenades that form part of London’s history and brings together for the first time a wealth of paintings, manuscripts, and rare and beautiful objects. These include pieces from the Royal Collection and museums, galleries and private collections from across Europe.
