The Barclays golf tournament tees off today at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey, in the United States.

Barclays has been the title sponsor of the tournament – the first event in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup – since 2005.

With all tournaments in the PGA TOUR regular season completed, 125 players have guaranteed a spot in the 2011 playoffs at The Barclays.

Only the top 100 players in the FedExCup point standings after The Barclays will advance to the next Playoff event in Boston, Massachusetts.

This year’s tournament ends on Sunday, 28 August and features an outstanding international field of golfers, including Barclays-sponsored Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker, Keegan Bradley, KJ Choi and Matt Kuchar, winner of The Barclays last year.
