Some of the biggest names in golf will be aiming for championship glory as the Barclays Singapore Open tees off today.
This is one of Asia’s most prestigious golf championships which celebrate strength, commitment and passion for success – resonating values we bring to clients at Barclays.
More than 150 players, including the likes of Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, Barclays-sponsored US star Phil Mickelson and Australia’s Adam Scott, will be vying for a share of a US$6m prize purse as the tournament gets underway on the demanding Serapong course.
South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen, 2010 Open Championship winner, and Korea’s Y. E. Yang, the first ever Asian to win a Major title, will also be starring as part of an overall line-up that includes 63 golfers from the Asian Tour, 63 from the European Tour, as well as other amateur and professional players nominated by the Singapore Golf Association and the Singapore Professional Golf Association.
The winner will earn prize money of US$1m.
“The Barclays Singapore Open has consistently delivered some of the finest golfing talent to the region,” said Robert Morrice, Chairman and Chief Executive of Asia Pacific. “This is one of Asia’s most prestigious golf championships which celebrate strength, commitment and passion for success – resonating values we bring to clients at Barclays.”
This is Barclays seventh title sponsorship of the open, which is jointly sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the European Tour.
